When entering our project, you find yourself in a narrow passage with two high walls on the side. You can either walk through and leave the project and the protostructure or you find a ladder with which you can on one hand climb up to reach the platform and on the other hand experience the verticality by having the other wall close behind your back. Once you've reached the platform, the experience of the space changes to the opposite: suddenly it is comfortable to rest and enjoy the horizontal view.

Therefore we changed the density of the grid in order to create a window pointing at the Toni areal and the place in front of it. On the big wall opposed to the platform the grid is opened as well on the height of the window, even though not as much. This allows seeing the protostructure's curve as well as creating a visual connection with the neighbouring project which is almost on the same level.

In general, the grid looses its density with the height in order to create a stronger filter on the ground level than on the top.

all elements of the final project

This week, we built all the grids we need and changed the density of the verticals (only take every second) and the horizontals (double or even triple them and leave them out for the window on the platform) so as to accentuate the horizontality on the platform and increase the narrowness in the corridor.

We divided the grids in order to make them fit into the containers for the transport to Zürich. Thus they can all be prefabricated in Lausanne and put in place relatively fast since the joints are already positioned and fixed. Put together, everything fits because of the modular grids and the repeating joints.
