Building a mold was primordial in our final building process. We recreated the irregular terrain of the site with dirt. Next we constructed a model of our element according to our previously built mold. To be able to adapt to the ground we needed to build uneven sized wooden parts. Therefore this exercise helped us in apprehending the various difficulties we would face while assembling in 1:1 scale.

Using a laser to gather measurements on the size of our base slats
In week two we decided to concentrate on the central part of our preview model as we understood that the books, shelves were excessive. The emphasis was not set on the books anymore as the users can bring their own lectures while still enjoying the site. Consequently we choose to focus on the multiple slats rotating around a single cylindrical element.
Every single model brought a new problematic to the project. For example with this model we figured out that the imposing frame was not relevant to our ideas.
Second Model - Lit en Baldaquin
First attempt : perspective
Our first idea was to make something useful for the people who spent their time in Malley,
therefore we decided to make a public library,
a place for people to come, and read their books without being disturbed by what sorrounded them.
— books as materials — public library —
