  • PLANES

    Par Joakin Gebert, 17/12/17

    Final Project

My project is about circulation and the different way we use a stairway and ramp. I built a stairway in the center of the protostructure and a ramp that goes around it. These two different architectural elements are both used to get from one level to another but they are very different. Using a stairway permits to mount or descent fast, while a ramp is more of a slow way to get from one level to another.

In my project once you have chosen which one to take first you have to stay on until you arrive at the top and then you can take the other one or the same to go back down.

The two paths have different intermediate platforms which create different spatial environments and relations between the platforms.

I present you how I advanced my project during the whole phase de PLANES

    Charrette week

I saw that in my previous model I had difficulties with the inclination of the ramp and the resulting heights needed so one can walk on the ramp without bending down to much. The solution I found is making the ramp steeper and therefore shorter.

I also had to put the ramp and the stairway into the drawings of the protostucture and create a new model.

    Third week

This week I chose to change my project radically. I still wanted to work with the circulation, which can be created in the protostructure, but in a different way. I chose to build two paths, one as a ramp and the other as a stairway. They have multiple platforms, but only meet physically at the top and the bottom.

This creates two promenades with different spatial environments.

    Second week

I created two rooms with no direct connection. The goal is to guide visitors around the protostructure if they want to get from one room to another.

This creates a different way of circulation than we usually get to use.

    First week

The task for this first week of PLANES was to define what space is created by our Element we built in ELEMENTS.

I chose to capture the interior space of the two moving doors and the benches.
