    Ground: We exactly defined the place where to place our protostructure and we modelized the ground in 3d. We designed a system to grab the gorund that permits to maintain the colum.

  • Becoming 3D

    The drawing becomes 3D. Horizontally we put two levels: water and earth. Will this structure define the ptrotostructure?

         The conceptsof my project come from a sketch development and the book In Praise of Shadows by Jun’ichro Tanuizaki.


        This Pavilion needed a geometrical research and experimentation to find good-looking proportion and positions of the elements. The wall is a clock, during the equinoxes light pass through holes at precise and choose times. Every hole is an hour. The holes on the roof displays on the floor and on the wall the seasons.

    Geometrical research, drawing


    For Planes I decided to develop only the clock wall. After the drawing research it has been needed a physical experimentation that has been done with this device in the following video.


    Eureka! It works! Let set some dimensions and let the plaster take the shape of this wall. I started to think about light and shadows and I began to see the lights like a construction material that cuts plaster. And form this concept I developed the horizontal plane.

    The columns that sustain the plaster are inclined and randomly positioned to create the sensation of sunlight that passes through water. The horizontal plane it can be see like a border line where above there’s a defined and precise geometry and beneath this geometry is broken by the water creating a confusion one.

    The detail of the column attachment to the plaster. Play with it, this model can stay up only with physics and statics rules, no glue needed.
