    The goal of our chapter was to recreate a complete timeline of the material cycle of the house from material sourcing to deconstruction, including the prefabrication, the transportation, the assembly, the disassembly and the recycling of the components of the house.

    During this week we started imagining the storyline of the construction of our house, by doing a first timeline of the travel of materials that would be used to build the house.

    During the second week, while the house evolved from last week, we started studying more in depth the prefabricated elements and the components that are required to build them up. We also continued building up the storyline of the construction of our house with a comic strip, and gathered all of the pieces of the house to measure the volume they would take in a truck.

    The third week, the house continued changing. We studied it in more details, by regrouping every material of the house in order to start obtain facts such as its price and the weight its components. We also organized our site of the Galpon in Geneva into several working spaces.

                                                                                                    Week 1

    For this new phase, we started by building a house made out of several rooms from our four studios. We enter our house through a debate space from the parking lot. We chose to create the debate space with the same layout as the house of commons. It is space that allows one to circulate, but that can also be a place to sit and discuss. In addition to that, this room is overlooked by a roof allowing to reverberate the sound.

    Following this space, there is a transition space leading onto two paths. One of them follows the curve of the slope, and takes us to a room located just above the water. This close contact with nature, offers us a beautiful view.

    The second path, however, follows in the opposite direction. By climbing you access the theatre space. The spectators's back would be facing the view on the water, in order to direct his focus on the show. 

    Our house can be summarized by two main axes : the first axis runs along the parking lot and ends at the bottom of the slope. The second one follows the opposite direction. It starts at the bottom of the slope and ends up at the theatre.

                                                                                                    Week 2

    From the parking lot in Geneva, we enter our house. The room we first encounter, remains the debate room. Its ceiling, however is nowhigher, and creates an atmosphere that welcomes more guests, as it is more aerated and comfortable. In opposition to the next space, the debate room isn't constrained by the trees, neither is the ceiling. However, this following room, a transition space follows the position of the trees, and meanders around and in between them. Its ceiling follows the same rule. The ceiling is made out of planes of cloth that are positioned as blanket on top of trees.


    This transitioned space connects to the nature, but also to the next two rooms. It leads to two paths. One of them follows the curve of the slope. This pathway take the form of the hill with its obstacles, leading to a small relaxation area facing the Rhone. The second path, whatsoever, follows in the opposite direction. By climbing you acmes the theatre space. It is sheltered space, with planes surrounding the sitting space. It enables the spectator to enjoy a convivial space focused on the show. These planes also enable a better sound of reverberation and a full protection from the wind and other disturbances. 

    So to summarize, we can say that this week we modified our project in a way that it fuses completely with natures, adapts itself to its curves and obstacles.

    Those two weeks ended with a review, during which a house was selected amongst those that were imagined by our four studios ABTW. Until the end of the phase HOUSES and GARDENS, we worked on the house from the group number 6.

    I finally return. The way back seems to me always interminable. I walk along a big and long road. I cross a bridge. I’m going under that bridge to finally get to my favorite spot. I always enter in the same way.I usually step down the stairs at full speed, taking small steps to get to the top of the first ramp. I slide without braking to get enough momentum to get through the second. I do this circuit enough times to make Mom dizzy and watch me from above. There are several small openings where I’m the only one who can sneak in. Sometimes I go all the way up to see Mom and get a taste of it on the ledge. Sometimes I join others under the inclined ramp to talk about strategies and develop game plans or other plots. It’s also my best hiding place when it’s time to go home. This is the place I prefer because for once here all are close enough for the standard but ideal for my small size.

    Let’s hope we go back tomorrow with Mom.

    During this first week of the rooms phase, the goal was to experiment by drawing different configurations of 4 planes (3m x 3m x 10cm). For this first proposal, my space was used to meet people. The horizontal plane was centered in relation to the pillar of the proto-structure to create a circularity of space. I deliberately placed the roof down to force users to sit on it and have a drink with others. There was finally a space at a higher level that allowed for a view of the Rhone. As my program was not fixed and predetermined enough, I started from this first proposal to go further in my approach.

                                                                                                                                                                          Week 2

    After this first week, it was mainly a question of thinking about a defined programme for a defined room. The idea was not to create something utopian without interest with the site but to create a room with a real function. I remembered that when we went to the mangrove site in Geneva, we had followed a long road with several residential areas. So I looked at the idea of creating a playground for children. From there I had a function but no room. I started from my first proposal of plan configuration to rethink this space. In my opinion, the characteristic of a play space for children must have been a place where children climb, slide, jump, sneak and even hide. I also thought about the fact that all children come with their parents to play in the games room. So I wanted to build in the room a space so that parents could sit and watch their children.
