    Given the impossibility of continuing the project physically at the studio, the further development was done digitally.

    During these two digital weeks, the objective was to transcribe the project through Rhino software in order to create digital drawing boards. The handling of the software was quite easy and it's always pleasant to see the extreme precision and efficiency of the software. However, this does not have the same soul as a handmade drawing

    Creation of 1:10 scale model/drawings(incomplete due to sanitary quarantine)

    Some changes since week 2: 1) Close parasitic spaces, so all unnecessary open spaces disrupting the activity of my rooms: stargazing, especially the great bear. 2) Establish a link between the triangular opening towards the sky and the ground (in plan). The cross created by the protostructure (which also gives the direction of the 4 cardinal points) is located in the center of the opening of my rooms (in plan).

    Model

    The construction of the model in the protostructure was done in 2 stages: 1) Creation of the frameworks of the plans. 2) Filling the frames. Choice of material: I decided to work with plexiglas for two characteristics: transparency and opacity. Indeed, the plexiglass is transparent base but once sanded it becomes opaque. I created a vertical transparency (ground and roof) in opposition with a horizontal opacity (walls). The floor of my rooms is transparent which allows to add an additional activity to my rooms: the possibility of not only looking at the stars but also of observing the other projects in the protostructure. The ground is not completely transparent, some parts considered uninteresting are sanded (for example the parts of the protostructure). So I work with the same material but in two different forms.

    This space is designed to appreciate the celestial vault. The inclination of its plane towards the sky is specially designed for the observation of the great bear. The Visitor enters at night, sits on the cross created by the protostructure. This cross indicates the direction of the 4 cardinal points. To see the stars of the big bear, the observer sits in a northern direction and looks just above the planes inclined at 60 degrees.

    These drawings represent the evolution of my week 1 project.

  • ROOMS_UW_WEEK 1

    The objective of the ROOMS phase is to create an interior space using 4 planes of 3x3x3 meters in a protostructure. This interior space must offer the concepts of entry, relation to the inhabitant and the scale of the human body.

    The purpose of my ROOMS is to observe the stars, more particularly the great bear.
    The space has no roof but is open, oriented towards the sky.

    These drawings (scale 1:10) represent the first ideas of the design of this space.
